October 2013 - Cynthia Gilkey

Cynthia Gilkey
Owner, OpAmum Mind and Body

NAWBO Delaware welcomes Cynthia Gilkey, Owner, Optimum Mind and Body to it’s membership.

It was quite intriguing to speak with Cynthia, who has had the wonderful experience of staying in CoCo Chanel’s home!

Since the age of 14, Cynthia has worked and most of that time more than one job, many bosses and many hours. Now that she is approaching her 60’s (although you would not know it), she just wanted to be her own boss and set her own hours and practice health the way she believes it should be implemented.

Cynthia joined NAWBO DE to network and gain knowledge in operating a business from its seasoned members. She is looking for clients who are open minded and willing to take control of their own health and well being in lieu of depending on medications or the inability to handles stress.

When Cynthia is not on the train traveling from NY – Boston – Delaware, to serve her clients, she likes to sew, work out at the gym and invigorate in a Pilates class.

Her happiest moments are times spent with her children and when she is staying in France. She has a proverb that she has had in her home office since she graduated college in 1977. . . PRESS ON nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. . .talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. . .Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. . .Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. . .Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.

Due to the nature of her work every day, Cynthia has to read medical books or journals, her last read was “The Immune System Recovery Plan” by Susan Blum, M.D. She admits it has been over a year since she read a book just for pleasure and that was the life story of CoCo Chanel!
